Adjust mode - The adjust mode leverages fire spread observations in conjunction with a fire spread simulation to calibrate the simulation on the fly. The original simulation calculates the rate of spread (ROS) which is then compared to the observed ROS. A second simulation is then performed with an updated ROS that best aligns with the observed ROS. The simulation results show the secondary simulation with the adjustments already incorporated. This mode also identifies a ROS adjustment factor for each fuel type that impacts the simulation, and it recommends fuel conversions that explain the discrepancies in ROS to enable user defined calibrations for futuristic predictions.

Pro-tip, if the observations are very extreme and they fall outside of the original simulation perimeter; the program will result in an error. In these cases, it is important to first verify and update all weather and fuel moisture inputs. This calibration mode only assumes the possibility of fuel modifications, and simulation discrepancies are often caused by wind speed errors.
