Circuit

Circuits are the aggregation of connected segments which share a common power source. Utilities monitor and control Circuits remotely to manage the grid. This concept is fundamental to organizing, protecting, and managing the electrical distribution system. Utilities consider which Circuits are affected when planning outages or responding to issues.

A segment's electricity can be traced back along connected segments to a distribution device like a Substation breaker (like the breaker in your home, only much bigger). All segments along that path share the same Circuit value (are part of the same Circuit).

Circuits are represented as linear geometry.
