Fine Fuel Moisture Code (FFMC) tracks the moisture of small, fast-drying fuels of similar sizes (~0.6–2.5 cm). It is the closest Canadian equivalent to Moisture 10H. However, FFMC is more general and not tied to specific fuel types, instead representing fine surface fuels within a soil depth of 0–2 cm. It also has a slightly longer moisture time lag of 15 hours compared to 10 hours. Unlike Moisture 10H, which is measured as a percentage where lower values indicate drier conditions, FFMC is a unitless index where higher values correspond to drier conditions.
