The Building Loss Factor (BLF) is a spatially variable metric calculated for each building that estimates potential loss or damage. It classifies buildings by risk with a quantitative assessment. This BLF model uses proprietary data from Technosylva based on over a decade of state agency inspections after large fires. Analysis identified common urban, building, vegetation, and landscape factors linked to wildfire damage. A machine learning model correlated loss with these factors across the Western United States.
